's comics! This is just so great!!!
Woo! This is finally done! I started this about one and a half months ago, coinciding with the whole Derpy thing. If you don't know what I'm talking about (or maybe you're reading this from the future, oooh), I've covered that story in my journal posts: "Muffins."
and "Muffins. (part 2)"
The idea in here is that Derpy lives in the heart of bronies, even if she doesn't have her name canon anymore or her lovable wall-eyed expression(which proved to be only a minor change in the end). The bronies will always keep her image in their hearts, and that's what will keep her happy and glowing in the end(or something). I guess it's a bit open to interpretation.
While this may not seem to impressive compared to the comics of more well-known artists around here, I never expected it to see the light of day. School and the fact that the Derpy outrage calmed down made this feel obsolete, and I abandoned it for a couple of weeks. Pushed on by good friends like ~Alorpax
, I decided to redo what I wasn't satisfied with and finally get this done. I think I could've done so much more with it, or made it clearer, but after so much time, I'm glad to just have finished it.
Technically, this entire comic is almost exclusively vectors and doing some of the things in vector only meant a high layer count as well as a lot of time wasted experimenting with different things. In the end, Iím quite happy about how the style turned out, and hope you guys like it too!
Time elapsed: around 46 hours
Number of layers: 556 (the outcome of going full vector)
Tools: Pencil sketches, screengrabs, Photoshop CS4 paths, and a whole bunch of effects
Font: Script MT Bold
