Another section of the Season 2 Cast Poster Vector Collab by #MLP-VectorClub. It's the big airship from Sweet and Elite! With something like this you can't really tell how much detail goes into props until you get in and vector them. They really put a lot of effort into making this airship, considering it's on screen for <10 seconds. This also reminded me of the Super Speedy Cider Squeezy 6000 I vectored a while ago. I hope we get to see some more vehicles in the show, in the same style as these.
I'm starting to get the hang of Illustrator, and despite some problems with gradients and crashes, I didn't really encounter many problems with it. I tried keeping this as accurate and consistent as I could, even though I vectored it from several screengrabs which had it on slightly different angles. I'm pretty satisfied with the end result, though!
Feel free to use this if you want, just link back to this page if you do, please.

I never really played any games in the Zelda series, I wouldn't know anything about references of that sort. It seems a bit of a long shot though, I'm guessing it's just a cool airship design. ^^
Impressive work. Although, now that I look upon this again, I do begin to wonder about it practicality.
Okay, Zepplins basically use the same idea: propel into the air with a giant balloon, but the compartment where all the people are seems more firmly attached. I'd be a little worried about riding on that thing attached to the balloon just by eight little cables. I mean, I guess you can have a view when you go "above deck", which is sort of the point of airships, but yikes.
But....maybe I'm overthinking the whole thing. Likely spurned on because I've been thinking about how Equestrian airships might be built for war. In a Faster Than Light clone pony game.
War, or at least security. From sky pirates. We've got griffons and pegasi in this world that don't even need their own ship. Putting my crazy video game aside, you'd think that one of these fancy ships would scream to bandits, slavers, and predators:
"Wealthy, minimally defended, probably fat from a life of leisure, ponies inside. Single entrance to lower deck makes excellent choke point."
First of all, you're overthinking a cartoon about pastel ponies. Second of all, FTL is awesome, and you're an awesome person for referencing it. Third, I doubt they'd use airships like this on cruises into dangerous territory. Either they'd be escorted by a military guard/combat ships or they'd probably have armed guards on board.

It feels like we saw some more airships in a recent episode, but I can't recall which one it was...
